Mill Road has always been more than a street - it’s a community built on connection, creativity, and care. This autumn, that spirit has been renewed with the election of a new committee for the Mill Road Traders Association (MRTA), bringing fresh energy and a clear vision for the months ahead.
At the Association’s Annual General Meeting on 29 September, members voted in a new leadership team committed to collaboration and positive change.
Kobir Ahmed, owner of Prana Indian Restaurant, takes on the role of Chair, joined by John Ball (Cut Price Carpets) as Vice Chair, Mohammed Azamuddin (CB1 Properties) as Secretary, and Anne Beamish (Indie Cambridge) as Treasurer.
They are supported by committee members Dominic Le Claire (Le Claires Digital) and Andrew Smith (The Garden Kitchen), forming a diverse and experienced group united by a single goal: to make Mill Road the best it can be.

Since taking office, the committee has already launched a successful recruitment drive, welcoming more than 35 new members to the Association. This growth marks a renewed sense of optimism and shared purpose within the Mill Road business community.
The new team is focused on collaboration, visibility, and improvement. Plans are underway for a refreshed digital presence - including a new website and active social channels — to showcase the incredible diversity of businesses across the area. Ambassadors in both Petersfield and Romsey will soon provide local members with hands-on support, helping every trader feel connected and represented.
Looking ahead, the MRTA aims to work more closely with Cambridge City Council, community groups, and sponsors to deliver practical improvements along the street — from festive lighting and floral displays to initiatives that make Mill Road more welcoming for residents and visitors year-round.
With a growing membership, an engaged leadership team, and a shared commitment to community, the Mill Road Traders Association is entering a new era of purpose and collaboration.
